It is perhaps stating the obvious to say that the very nature of a quarry or surface mineral working means it has the potential to be an inherently noisy operation. Heavy machinery, heafvy vehicles, blasting operations and even vehicle reversing alarms are all obvious sources of noise in quarrying operations that can cause significant disturbance to the sites neighbours and increase noise at work issues.
